It’s been pretty hard to miss all the buzz happening about incoming 6th grader Ava Garus and her 4H pig, but just in case you didn’t let’s get you caught up. Like many of our students, Ava participated in 4H this year raising a pig. While at fair she passed a note to the auctioneer letting him know that all profit from her pig would be going to her cousin Marlo, who has been diagnosed with Rett Syndrome (genetic neurological and developmental disorder that affects the way the brain develops). What happened next has been reported on by KTVZ, the Central Oregon Rancher and just recently KLOVE’s “Good Kid Of The Week”, which Ava was nominated for and aired nationally yesterday morning. Ava’s pig raised $40,000 for her cousin and brought a whole lot of attention to Rett Syndrome. We are so proud of you Ava, you have a beautiful heart.
