Westside Christian Tournament Dec 5th – 6th
1A Saints (61) vs. 3A Westside Christian (44)
And the 2019/2020 season is off and running with Trinity Lutheran making the trip to Tigard to take part in the Westside Winter Jam.
The 1A Saints drew the home Westside Christian Eagles (3A) to open the tournament and were in control most of the game. Trinity was led by sophomore Scooty Gilbert with 26 points and senior Matt Eidler with 25 points. Gilbert led the Saints in the first half with 17 of his points while Eidler pulled down 10 of his 12 rebounds.
Trinity ended up holding a 32-20 lead at the half. Eidler took the scoring role on in the second half with 18 points as the saints grew the lead to 16 after 3 quarters and cruised to the end. The combo [ of Gilbert and Eidler] were 14-16 from the ft line and 5-10 from the three and each contributed 5 assists.
Cash Niemeyer started his senior season strong with 4 points and 11 rebounds. Westside was led by DL Scales with 18 points.
Trinity plays the winner of 3a Dayton vs 5a Radford from Hawaii in the semifinals Friday night. Go Saints!
